'On Alert' by Jkronie 'On Alert' by Jkronie
"On Alert" Oil on Masonite 48x96. This is a large painting at 4 feet by 8 feet. I have to admit I would rather paint these big ones than the small pieces. There is something very satisfying about creating art that is life size. I am also downloading a couple of detail shots of this piece. Mainly to showcase the fur and the depth of the grass. I hope you like what you see...

Oh. My. God. That must've took forever! I saw the details, the fur is flawless.

I agree that large pieces are really fun to do.

Oh my gosh this is beautiful!! You are a master.

If only i had money, this would look so lovely hanging up in a livingroom.
I have to get better so i can accomplish this sort of project.

How long on a rough estimate did this take you?

Thanks again for the comments. 200 to 250 hours? I usually work on 3 to 4 paintings at a time, rotating them, so it's difficult to estimate.

Wow, really beautiful work here! Love the detail you achieved as well as the texture of their fur. And that grass! It definitely has so much depth. How did you manage to work on such a large masonite panel without it warping? Did you cradle it in a certain way?

Thanks! The masonite bows a bit, but when I mount it in the frame it flattens out just fine.
